Many women in golf suffer from poor alignment, particularly a closed stance, which can lead to a host of technical issues. Aiming right for right-handed golfers means the ball position can be too far back in the stance, resulting in a low ball flight. Poor alignment can also harm direction and consistency.

Backswing faults such as an inside takeaway and excessive arm lift can arise from a closed stance. Additionally, the transition can manifest an ‘over the top’ move, and shots can become smothered due to a closed clubface.

To correct a closed stance, golf alignment sticks are recommended when practising, particularly with shorter shots initially. It’s normal to feel open or aligned left for right-handed golfers, but it is essential to accept this setup as parallel to the target. Improved alignment makes ball position more manageable, and it becomes easier to turn through the shot and generate more height and spin.

It’s important to make sure that the feet are parallel to the target line, and the hips and shoulders should also be square. Correct alignment is essential for consistency and accuracy. By using an alignment aid, practising regularly, and taking time to ensure proper ball position and body alignment, women golfers can significantly improve their game.

Together, they are certified in Advanced Golf Coaching, Golf Psychology, TPI (Body-Swing Connection), NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), Personal Development and Skill Acquisition.

Steve and Glen are not ‘Method’ coaches. They recognise that there are literally 1000’s of ways to swing a golf club! Rather than try to ‘change’ your swing, their goal is to help You Be The Best Golfer You Can Be!

Skill Development vs Technical Changes

Although technique is an important factor in improving a golfer’s performance, Skill Development is largely neglected in golf coaching today. Skill is something that can be tangibly improved with proper understanding of the golf impact laws and effective practice towards improved performance.

External Focus of Attention

Most golf teaching involves an internal focus. Common suggestions might include increased hip turn, a still head or improved hand path. These are all factors of the golf swing, which many golfers and teachers consider important. However, as they are focused internally, on movements of the body, golfers find changes extremely difficult to process.
