Bugatti is bidding farewell to the W16 engine with a car it hopes will become the world's faster roadster.
The legendary quad-turbocharged, 16-cylinder motor became an instant icon when it debut in the Bugatti Veyron and has since gone on to claim a bunch of speed records. The W16 Mistral will be the last time we see the unit in a road car, and it's going out with a bang. It gets the same 1,600hp engine as the Chiron Super Sport and will comfortably hit a top of 261mph. It packs a 'best-of' design, too, taking bits from La Voiture Noire, the Divo and the Bolide. Bugatti making 99 customer cars, each costing €5m (£4.25m). But the big question is: what comes next?
