The toyota tacoma faces tough competition in the US, however, it has two aces up its sleeve: a manual transmission and legendary reliability. For that reason, the stick shift Tacoma has carved out a nice niche for itself away from the Ford Ranger, Chevy Colorado and Honda Ridgeline. One question remains, is the manual trans any good?

CORRECTION: I said that the TRD sport has a 1500 pound payload but that was not correct, that was for the SR5 model. The TRD sport Access cab does have the highest payload capacity of the MT tacomas, but it is only 1275. All TRD MT crew cab tacos have a 1150 payload capacity, sorry.
