It’s late Saturday morning, March 2, 2024, and we’re enjoying the dome level of our dome observation car Laurentide Park on VIA Rail train 1, the Canadian, heading from Toronto Union Station to Pacific Central station at Vancouver.
We’re west of Jasper, Alberta and east of Valemount, British Columbia, on the Canadian National Railway Albreda Subdivision, passing through Mount Robson Provincial Park.
We get a rare treat, seeing the top of Mount Robson, the highest point in the Canadian Rockies, with an elevation of 12, 972 feet. It’s usually hidden by clouds!
