After a rather short teaser campaign, Ford has just unveiled the 2021 Ranger Raptor Special Edition. A Europe-only model, it comes in limited numbers and features enhanced looks inside and out.

Set to arrive at dealers in October, the pickup truck will be available in Performance Blue, Conquer Grey or Frozen White, with twin matte black racing stripes edged with red contrast lines. The front tow hooks sport a red finish, and the grille, front and rear bumpers, flared wheel arches and door handles have a matte black look.

The cabin of the 2021 Raptor Special Edition has been upholstered in standard high-grain leather with red contrast stitching on the seats, steering wheel, door cards and instrument panel, with the latter getting an exclusive raceway grey styling. The Raptor name is visible on the front seatbacks, and besides this, customers will find the usual amenities present in the regular variants of the sporty truck.

Power is supplied by a 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine, which develops 213 PS (210 HP / 157 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. It comes paired to a 10-speed automatic gearbox, shared with the Mustang, and four-wheel drive with Terrain Management System that improves traction on challenging surfaces and includes a ‘Baja’ driving mode. The suspension uses double wishbones at the front and multi-link architecture at the back. The shocks come from FOX and the all-terrain tires are General Grabber AT3.

Celebrating the introduction of the 2021 Ranger Raptor Special Edition, Ford has released a three and a half-minute video named ‘The Good, the Bad + The Badass’. The film was shot on a Spaghetti Western movie set in Spain and highlights the off-roading credentials of the model that is joined by the Wolftrak, Stormtrak and Ranger MS-RT variants.

“The new Ranger Raptor Special Edition adds even more dramatic style to our ‘bad-ass’ truck, with unique exterior touches and cabin enhancements that make our off-road performance pickup truck even more distinctive and desirable”, said the Ford Performance manager, Stefan Muenzinger. “Starring in its own Spaghetti Western movie is the perfect way to demonstrate Ranger Raptor Special Edition’s style and off-road capability.”
