This competition is designed to see who can make great drinks quickly, not who can act like the biggest clown and throw liquid everywhere.
Rounds judged from this point on are to be considered quality rounds. You cannot make 4 drinks poorly in a round and consider that to be viable. You need to demonstrate your skills as a bartender to make good drinks. In other words, you cannot suck and still win.
Winners are clearly masters of both SPEED and PROFICIENCY.
A slightly slower time with perfect drinks will always beat a faster round of shit drinks every single time!
PRACTICE!!!
Don’t come half-cocked or you will look like a joke in front of a room full of your peers. WE WILL POINT AND LAUGH AT YOU!
The earlier you sign up and get the specs, the sooner you can start practising.
All competitors will have five (5) minutes to set their stations.
The rules are as follows....
1 - All equipment and ingredients will be provided by the venue. Do not bring anything with you, as you will not be allowed to use it. This includes pourers, tins, absolutely everything!
Anyone caught using their own equipment/ingredients will be automatically disqualified.
2 - Nothing is allowed IN or ON your Glass or Tins prior to commencing your round. This includes ice.
3 - All competitors must use speed pourers. No open bottles and no turbo/jet pourers are allowed on any bottles.
4 – No Hand Straining
5 – ALL Drinks MUST be garnished
6 – ALL Drinks MUST have all the required ingredients in them
7 – ALL Crushed Iced Drinks MUST have a straw
8 – No Pre-Mixes Allowed
9 – You MUST make the FULL round of drinks requested. No exceptions. No intentional omission of cocktails is permitted.
10 - For any unservable drink there will be a 10 second penalty.
11 - Four unservable drinks and you will be disqualified.
For this competition an UNSERVABLE drink is anything the Judges deem a drink that they would send back at Crepes El Borne on a Friday night!
What is an “UNSERVABLE” drink? Quite simply, a drink that is most likely to be returned from the guest. For example, if you prepare a Daiquiri and forget to add the sugar, that drink is un-servable. (Please note that a drink can still be DRINKABLE but not SERVABLE. Is a Cuba Libre made with a 5ml measure of rum drinkable? Yes. Easily so. But that drink cannot be considered a Cuba Libre, nor should it be.)
12 - If you break a glass after your round starts, you will be disqualified. No Exceptions!!!!
13 - Every competitor needs to be at the stage by 18:30 at the very latest, for the briefing and draw of the running order.
Anyone not at the stage by 18:300 will automatically be given the first spot up.
14 - Running order will be chosen at random and is final. (Unless you are late – Then you go first!) Book the WHOLE night off you will need it.
15 – To finish your round and stop the clock, you must throw both your arms in the air and take a step back from the bar and yell ENJOY! Failure to do this will keep the clock running.
16 – You work a station you clean a station!!!! Do not just walk off after your round, leaving the bar like a shit show.
If you do so,
YOU. WILL. NOT. WIN!!!!
PRACTICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anything not prohibited is allowed.
Judging will be blind, and all decisions are final.
No whining.

Do or do not, there is no try. - Yoda, a long long time ago.
