►Every gearbox needs healthy lubricating fluid, whether three pedals or two. BMW's DCT is no exception, regardless of BMW's "lifetime fill" claim, so replacing the fluid and filter is something you may want to look into.

All lubricating fluids contain minerals and compounds designed to keep the rotating components smooth, cool, and happy. But with extensive use, the oil will break down, losing its effectiveness. While the DCT won't necessarily tell you its fluid needs replacing, try sticking to an interval near 60-75,000 going forward.

Wrench with Mike Hidalgo, FCP Euro's Professional DIY'er, as he replaces the DCT fluid and filter on an F82 M4.
