On this day in 1923, brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney founded the Disney Brothers Studio. A century later, The Walt Disney Company is celebrating its 100th anniversary as perhaps the world's most famous media and entertainment company. To mark the the centenary, an enormous collection of nearly 300 artefacts relating to the company's history – including props and artwork from some of its most iconic productions – has gone on display at ExCel London, the giant exhibition space in the UK capital. Tickets for Disney100: The Exhibition are on sale now.

In 1959, Walt Disney himself was interviewed by ITN's Elizabeth Kenrick. Disney started the interview by answering a question Kenrick had asked him off camera – whether he had given up making cartoons as the company had turned to making "films with humans". Disney also discussed whether he thought television would prove to be serious competition for films, and whether he considered Disney films to be educational.
