This is by far not a complete list of considerations for 2D composition. However, it is advisable for beginners to only think about a few rules at a time so as to not get overwhelmed. This should be a good launching point for beginner drawers and painters. What you learn here can be applied to any 2D artwork. There is A LOT to consider when we talk about composition. As you get comfortable with these rules, branch out and begin to research and study other rules of composition such as the famous Golden Ratio.

Remember rules are meant to be broken, and there are plenty of ways to break these compositional rules while still ending up with a pleasing and successful design.
