Jim Dawson explores the Lost Realm of Bunker Hill. This area of Los Angeles, home to about 20,000 souls was completely obliterated by the Redevelopment bulldozers in the 1960s. Not only were the people, houses, old victorian homes, hotels, streetcars, funicular railways like Angels Flight, several streets, and all commercial buildings wiped off the map, but the hill itself was greatly chopped down. Mr. Dawson focuses his talk on the wonderful film noir movies that were made up on Bunker Hill starting in the late 1940s. He reviews the films, location shots, authors of the books that spawned the films, the directors, actors, and of course, the great buildings that gave the center of Los Angeles so much character in those olden days. This talk is illustrated with many photos, be sure to watch after the final credits for a magical tour into the past of Los Angeles' lost realm.
