If you are looking for a cooler spot to camp then look no further than Davis Mountains State Park in west Texas near Fort Davis. The elevation is over 5,000 feet so it is a great destination to get away from the heat. The McDonald Observatory is very close by and Big Bend National Park is not too far away. The skies are dark at night and it is very quiet since it is away from major towns and highways. This park is a hidden gem in my opinion especially if you enjoy watching birds and wildlife or want to walk/ride the paved roads or hike the various trails. We will show you the best campsites and detailed videos of each of them.
