I had no idea that the feelings I had been experiencing in 2021 were due to the menopause hitting me.

Anxiety, depression, brain fog, aching joints, hot flushes and the inability to cope with everyday life took me close to breaking point.

This was unlike me. I have always been a bubbly, confident person and as a Fitness Coach, I have been the one helping other women feel strong and confident.

It was when I found myself driving down to Bournemouth one morning, but with no idea why, apart to be on my own that I knew I needed to seek help.

After being told by one male doctor that I was probably just tired and being prescribed sleeping tablets that made me feel awful, I eventually saw a female doctor who advised that with all my symptoms, I was probably in the menopause.

Blood tests confirmed this and at last I felt relieved that there was an explanation for how I had been feeling. I wasn't going mad!

if you are struggling right now, do not feel alone. Talk to those close to you and seek advice from you doctor who can give you an overview of medical interventions available.

You can also talk to your local independent health store as they are a great source of advice where you will find practitioners trained in nutrition and lifestyle. They can offer a more holistic approach to help you maintain health and wellbeing.
