Standing on the edge of a small village and nestled in rolling hills stands an old abandoned house that is loaded with all of the personal belongings of the last family that lived there. The homes facade was withered and cracked, its walls overgrown with vines snaking up the stone work, with creaking metal shutters that date back to over a century ago when this house was originally built.
As soon as we ventured inside, we were both amazed by the sight before us, and we knew we had stumbled upon something truly magical. With a sense of excitement, we cautiously made our way through each dimly lit room. We not only found opium, but we uncovered the home owner's old passports, documents, and paperwork. It seems that the owners were a married couple, he was a World War II veteran and she was a veterinarian who cared for their many farm animals.
The family had made this farm home their sanctuary, finding refuge in its now crumbling walls and dusty corners. But you can clearly tell that this home was their absolute pride an joy as they has gorgeous antique furniture, including a vintage piano and a glass aquarium filled with old taxidermy mounts of various bird life, which makes total sense now knowing the home owners cared for so many animals.
Although the facts are somewhat vague, it seems that the couple grew old together, the wife eventually became widowed, and then she passed away some 20 years ago. Since then, the old villa has sat abandoned, ignored, and forgotten about....well, at least until we made our way inside. This house was truly an incredible explore, as we moved slowly through each room documenting everything that appeared before us.
It really felt as if each piece of furniture or personal possession had its own story to tell us. The family's timeless furnishings seem to date back to an era of much happier times, when the now lonely home was filled with large family gatherings, overflowing with both life and love. As we wrapped up our exploration of this abandoned time capsule home, we couldn't help but to be grateful for being able to experience such a beautiful place, loaded with all of the family's prized possessions still inside.
