In 1996, French director Olivier Assayas made the film Irma Vep, about a young star from Hong Kong (Maggie Cheung as herself) who comes to France to make a remake of the 1915 French classic Les Vampires. Assayas has now created a series for HBO, also called Irma Vep, this time starring Alicia Vikander.
