Eastern Tropical Pacific Killer Whales or Orcas, are a special type of dolphin that infrequently visits Southern California. These orcas generally range from Central America to San Diego and are little studied. Its likely that there are multiple ecotypes of killer whales within the ETP designation. In 2023, an El Nino year for the NE Pacific Ocean, these orcas have been seen dozens of times since July to the time of publishing. This is an edited version of the nearly 15 different hunts Gone Whale Watching San Diego observed and documented during that period.
