Behind the scenes highlights: This is the story of how Brian Solis was inspired to rethink his relationship with digital and social media and why he was compelled to write Lifescale: How to Live a More Creative, Productive and Happy Life (www.lifescaling.me).

It was 2017 when Brian aimed to deliver what would have been his eighth book.. But, 2017 came and went without a new manuscript. In fact, he never made it past the proposal stage.

Brian's ability to achieve previous depths of focus and creativity was not only waning, they had completely transformed into something more real-time, dynamic and shallow. While he was convinced that he was still able to achieve flow, he couldn't. Everything was different. Brian didn't realize it though until he experienced failure.

Between the Fall of 2017 and early 2018, Brian found himself soul-searching, exploring what happened, how he got there and so much more. He was resolved to understand what happened and what was happening. Brian learned so much during this time, that he was, for the first time in a while, mono-tasking, and the results were uplifting, thorough and profound.

This is the story of how he became digitally distracted and the design secrets that affected him, many others and maybe you too?

Before what would eventually become "Lifescale: How to Live a more creative, productive and happy life," Brian turned the spotlight on the dark side of social media and why he wasn't alone in his day-to-day struggles.

His session at SMMW 2018 continues to stir emotion, reflection and growth to this day.
