I reckon we might be the only country in the world whereby, no matter where you live within it, you're always around 45 minutes away from some strange annual ritual where everyone gets together to eat lukewarm burgers while attempting to whack a toy rat through a bit of plastic drainpipe to raise money for the air ambulance.

Yeah there's always gonna be kids convinced that actually they live in an alternate series of Top Boy (one with a big white tent dishing out lemon cake in May), and retired jobsworths looking to police the place via facebook, and one farmer literally everyone hates for village-admin reasons - but fair play it makes a change.
