Last episode, Al Fadi and Dr. Jay discussed how inconsistent and unreliable carbon dating really is. Besides the inconsistencies, the dating itself can only pertain to the animal skin the script was written on - not the ink itself, so the animal skin could be far older than what the writings themselves were. Not only that, today they disclose how these parchments circulated in the ancient world. Animal skins were very expensive and usually housed in Christian monasteries, but these were all found in the north - geographically and linguistically distant from Medina where Uthman is claimed to have written.
