Today, in our sports encyclopedia series we will talk about how to play Knightmate Chess.
The rules of this game are similar to normal chess except for a few modifications.
The basic objective of this game is to be the first player to checkmate the opponent’s knight.
In Knightmate Chess, the roles of the King and Knight are reversed.
The game begins by laying out the board on a flat surface and placing all the pieces normally except for the King and Knight.
The knight is placed where the king is normally put in regular chess and Kings are placed in the Knights’ original places.
The knight moves in an L-shape as it does in regular check.
The knight must not move into a check and must make sure to get out of chess as a King does.
The Kings in this game are not checked.
Their way of moving is the same as Kings in normal chess but the check rule does not apply to them.
The players are allowed to capture the opponent’s King like any other game piece.
The players can also promote their pawns to a King if they want.
Castling is done in this game just like it is done in normal chess, except where there is a knight in the King’s place.
The first player who manages to checkmate the opponent’s Knight wins.
