Senator Rand Paul, a medical doctor, grilled HHS nominee Rachel Levine on the topic of transgender medicine and its usage on children. Paul argued that genital mutilation is condemned around the globe and by most global agencies yet in America the practice is being encouraged and celebrated.

Levine refused to answer the question directly, only responding by saying transgender medicine is a "complex" field and that they could discuss the issue in detail at a later time.
