The Sustainability Office has launched a pilot program involving four electric vehicle chargers that get their energy exclusively from solar power.
The goal is to make Dartmouth's transportation systems more sustainable and lower the carbon emissions involved in commutes.
Four employees won a lottery to use the chargers this year, including math professor Sergi Elizalde, who likens it to "plugging into the sun."
The chargers, from Norwich, Vt.-based Solaflect Energy, are based in the Maynard Lot.
