Hi John with etrailer. Listen, there's no better way to open up your world to accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers and even light duty towing than with this right here. This is etrailer's Class III Receiver Hitch that we installed on our 2022 Audi Q5. Now, in my opinion, this is the perfect size hitch for this Audi. This is gonna be a Class III hitch, which means that this receiver opening right here is 2" by 2" square and we've reinforced the collar on this for just a little bit better performance out of it. Now all of your accessories out there, you're gonna get a huge market of 2" receiver accessories like that when it comes to cargo carriers or bike racks or other accessories like that.

It's one of the most popular sizes, so you're gonna get the most choices when you're choosing this size hitch for the Audi. Now one thing that stands out differently with this hitch versus the other hitch is this is powder coated black, a flat black. And I find that on these Audis especially, it really blends in nicely with this lower flat black fascia trim that they have on them. Now as far as pinhole sizes here, this is gonna be a 5/8" pin and clip. Now this isn't included, and you're gonna need this if you're new to towing.

Now, if you already have accessories like bike racks or cargo carriers, or if you're in the market for 'em, a lot of them will already include the pin and clip or some sort of anti-rattle device. Now if you are towing, you're gonna be interested in the wire type chain hangers here. This style I find is one of the easiest to use, either for standard S hook, both ways, or even a heavier duty clevis style. It's just gonna be easier to get on and off. Now we've had a lot of questions as far as the kick sensors on the Audi and if you install the trailer hitch, and I wanna let you know that even for something like the etrailer hitch here, it works, and it's gonna work for you on both sides no matter what.

(car beeps) Let's get some measurements to see how our hitch fits on the Audi, this is gonna help you out. Let's start with ground clearance, from the ground to the top of the inside collar, looking at 13-1/4" inches. And then from the center of the pinhole out to the edge of our fascia here, we're looking at 3". Now these numbers are important, if you're gonna be towing with your Audi, more than likely you're gonna want a ball mount that has a slight rise to it, so it keeps your trailer and Audi level. Or if you're in the market for or have accessories that fold up like in a stowed position, you wanna make sure that they're not gonna impact the back of your fascia.

Now let's take a look at some of the weight capacities of our hitch. This hitch has good numbers. We're looking at tongue weight rating, the force pushing down on the hitch, that's 750 pound tongue weight rating. And as far as the gross trailer weight rating, the force pulling on the hitch, you're looking at 5,000 pounds. Now that's gonna be the weight of your trailer and anything that you put in it or on it. Now you definitely want to check with the Audi's owner's manual to make sure that you can actually tow that much weight. Now when it comes to installation of this hitch, they do rate this a 10 out of 10. This is very involved as far as installation. We're gonna be removing the rear fascia. There isn't any drilling or cutting, but there's some other factors that go into this that make it fairly difficult for somebody to get this done in their garage. It's not impossible though. So if you wanna see what it takes to get this hitch installed on your Audi or if you just wanna know what it takes for a shop to install it for you so that you're informed when you go in, stick around, we're gonna show you step by step. Let's start our installation. You're gonna want to come to the rear of the Audi, grab a T25 Torx bit and there's four screws that we need to remove from the rear bumper fascia. (tool buzzes) Now keep you same, T25 socket come over to the wheel well, we're over here on the driver's side. What we need to do is pull out this wheel trim here. You're gonna have a series of clips in here I'll show you (plastic cracks) real quick, it's these guys right here so just be careful when you're pulling on these, but these clips will bend in, if you need a little bit of help, you can use a plastic trim panel tool to get in there. (plastic cracks) Most of the time on these Audis, (plastic cracks) these clips aren't too bad. They kind of behave, so just work your way slowly around. You'll also notice I have painter's tape on here, later on, we're gonna be removing this rear
