This is La Palma island, the most beautiful of the Spanish Canary Islands, vastly overshadowed by its neighbours such as Tenerife and Gran Canaria when it comes to tourism.

It's home to international observatories and the perfect night sky, but it's also an island that still very much shows its scars from the 2021 volcanic eruption and more recent wild fires.
