You may already know that iPhones can get viruses when theyâre jailbroken. When you jailbreak an iPhone, all the safeguards built in by Apple are removed. However, there are several other ways iPhones can get a virus.
Itâs possible for your iPhone to become infected when you use a public charging station, as you never know who is on the other end of the cable, or what theyâll do if you tap âTrust This Deviceâ.
Third-party app stores, configuration profiles, and links on sketchy websites can also give your iPhone a virus.
There are several signs your iPhone may have a virus. There may be an app you didnât install. If you find one, delete it immediately.
Your iPhone might get very hot, die faster, or use more data than normal. Just keep in mind these could also be a sign of a software problem.
People often mistake spam for a virus. If you see a pop-up on your iPhone saying something like âvirus detected on iPhone,â your iPhone doesnât actually have a virus. Itâs a spam message designed to scare you into giving up your personal information. If you see a message like this in a web browser, itâs a good idea to clear the browserâs history and website data.
Another common tactic is known as âcalendar spamâ. A scammer will attempt to subscribe you to a calendar. If you see spam calendars on your iPhone, delete them immediately.
