In this video I share my thoughts about Malaysia's DE Rantau Nomad Pass, the first digital nomad pass in Southeast Asia (Thailand, Indonesia and Taiwan all currently offer visas that can be useful for digital nomads, and they are developing programs exclusively targeting digital nomads that will hopefully be unveiled soon) It's been available for over 4 months now, but the first recipients only received their approvals in late January.

The grand scheme of the DE Rantau Nomad Pass is impressive, but the execution so far has left much to be desired. For Malaysia to truly attract a large share of digital nomads it will need to streamline the application process, make it clearer and faster to complete, and it will need to address the taxation and banking dilemmas.
