For 2021, the BMW M340i sees the introduction of a limited Performance Edition, adding various elements but having the same powerful engine remain.

Full disclosure: When I had the M340i, there was an embargo placed on it, so I didn't have any specifics about engine, fit, finish, options, etc.
I can say that it felt stronger compared to when I drove the 2020 M340i last year.
Yes, it was the same engine so while the power figures were the same, driving impressions felt more alive and engaged.
It's interesting how a year between test drives can do that sometimes.
