How practical is Death's scythe in the hands of a real-life mortal?

After my original fantasy design turned out devastating as a sort of war pick but awkward to use for cutting due to the downward angle of the curved blade I was curious to find out how it would do as a more conventional polearm. So I disassembled and re-mounted the blade in an upright position. Was that a good idea? Well, let's find out in by testing it...
