In this video I get the lathe up and running, check the speeds of the chuck using a non contact handheld tachometer by adjusting the belt on the pulleys, check that the lathe is level (ie try and remove any twist), and also do the initial test installation of the new quick change chuck.

The precision machinist level that I got was the one with the aluminum box that you should hopefully be able to find by searching on amazon for:
0-0002-10 Straightness Parallelism Machinists level aluminum box
That same looking level is sold by a bunch of random Chinese companies, but the one I picked to buy was UpAmcarker Store due to their having the aluminum box storage/protective which looks to helps it arrive safely.

For the quick change tool post, as mentioned in a previous video, I got the one from the Little Machine shop for the Craftsman/Atlas 618 lathe: https://littlemachineshop.com/product...

The speeds the lathe runs with the various pulley and belt combination changes (not including the back gear, or the side gear changes) are for the way the side gears were set up when I got the lathe:

2822 rpm
1152 rpm
965 rpm
862 rpm
698 rpm
576 rpm
501 rpm
416 rpm

I need to next get more familiar with the way the various cross slide etc lock in place so that when I use the quick change post it does not also shift that assembly around in addition to locking the tool post.
