Despite his success, he carried the scars of his past, including bouts of claustrophobia. Bronson retired after hip surgery and passed away in 2003 at the age of 81, leaving behind a legacy as a charismatic and captivating screen icon. He is buried in Brownsville Cemetery, West Windsor, Vermont.
