In today's episode, we started to power wash the LochNSX after being underwater for over 16 years and sitting outside a junkyard collecting bird poop for another 3. We have decided to power wash the car in sections where we are gonna be working instead of trying to remove the two thousand pounds of mud all at once. So far we have removed a few hundred pounds of mud from the front alone, the mud made its way to every single crevasse of the car like the ventilation system, cowl area, and battery tray. We noticed the fenders were “no bueno” and the bolt's heads were completely gone, surprisingly the front bumper upper and lower sections are in decent condition. Both of the front tow hooks are bent inwards probably from when the car was pulled from the river, we still do not know how the A-pillars got damaged but at this point of the process that doesn't really matter. Corrosion has eaten up part of the fenders connecting points to the chassis, the more we clean the car the more corrosion we see, especially where steel brackets were bolted into the aluminum chassis the corrosion is present 100%. Other areas have very small signs of corrosion where the aluminum has bubbled up without the presence of any other metal close by. We aren’t sure why this happened.
