The 2020 Hyundai Veloster N is a high-performance version of this unique 3-door compact. The N has a 275-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo engine and features upgraded suspension tuning that was honed on the famous Nurburgring. But the basic chassis is sound, so even the base models are fun to drive. This hasn't always been the case, but in 2019 the Veloster's rear suspension was completely rethought and changed to a nicely-designed multilink layout. We'll see that here, along with more details that make the Veloster N a sports compact car that's worth looking at.

Why am I doing this? I love this stuff. I'm a former suspension development engineer that got into auto journalism, and for several years I created a popular photo feature called a Suspension Walkaround for Inside Line, a now-defunct offshoot of Edmunds.com (no relation). I never seemed to have the time, the equipment, or the confidence to get in front of the camera, but I got over that by hosting at least 80 professionally-produced videos over the last three years on the Edmunds You Tube channel.
