Review and test cutting thick steel with the Versa Cut 60 plasma cutter from Eastwood. 1/8" up to 1" thick. This is a 220v unit.

I have almost no previous plasma cutting experience, just having used a friends 110v cutter for a few minutes at most. I wanted an easy and clean way to cut thick metal in my home machine shop. The oxy-acetylene torches were a pain and the consumables constantly depleted. The Versa-Cut came in at almost half the price of the name brand unit I was considering, 3-year warranty, I decided to try it. Previously I had ordered a generic red plasma cutter online in the $300 range which I promptly returned after opening the box and seeing the construction.

In the end I am very pleased with both the machine and the price. Eastwood states 7/8" steel, I put it to the test with some 1" bar stock and it cut through. On thinner material it sliced quickly and with little effort. A welcome pleasure for sure vs. the saws and cut off wheels I have been using.

I've heard it said and now I'll say it... how did I function without this machine? It closely resembles magic.
