The United State’s last pandas are set to leave Zoo Atlanta by the end of 2024, when their loan from China expires. While some see the withdrawing of these diplomatic creatures as China’s way of retaliating amidst heightened tensions with the US, there might be hope. In November 2023, Chinese President Xi Jinping promised at a business dinner that San Diego Zoo would get pandas again.
