A submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) is a type of ballistic missile that may be launched from submarines. Contemporary versions often deploy several independently targetable reentry vehicles (MIRVs), with each one carrying a nuclear warhead. This enables a single launched missile to hit numerous targets. Submarine-launched ballistic missiles function distinctively compared to submarine-launched cruise missiles.

Submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs) are closely associated with intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), as they have ranges exceeding 5,500 kilometres (3,000 nautical miles). In many instances, SLBMs and ICBMs belong to the same category of weaponry.
