Some things are worth their price on looks alone, like Bang and Olufsen sound systems, Ducati motorcycles, and the Lexus LC 500.
Lexus' top-of-the-line coupe stands out, even in the supercar/grand tourer segment where pretty much everything else also screams sexy. Somehow, the LC manages that delicate balance between aggression and subtlety that marks all timeless designs — which is surprising, since it wears Lexus' trademark spindle grille. Except it actually works here.
This isn't a car you buy for the numbers. The normally aspirated 5.0L V8 under that long hood pumps out 471 horsepower and 398 lb.-ft. of torque, hooked up to a 10-speed automatic. Zero-to-100 km/h? The mid four-second range. Top speed? 270 km/h. Solid numbers for sure, but not great — yet that's not the point.
You buy a LC 500 for the experience, but you'll have to read the full review on Driving.ca to see what we really mean: https://driving.ca/?p=421368
