In this amazing update for the third party iOS app "Watch for Tesla" you can now set up your Apple Watch to work with your Tesla as a proper phone key. Full support for walk away locking (see below) and even some other native commands that can now be triggered from your wrist even when offline and without your phone.

A note on walk away lock. It does seem the Apple Watch’s power management is causing some inconsistency with wall away lock. It doesn’t always work. Always double check it’s locked when walking away - if not you can tap in the app to lock it.

Some people didn’t realise in the video I’m talking about a third party app here. The official Tesla app doesn’t have any support for the Apple Watch. The ‘Watch for Tesla’ app is an app created by a third party developer.
