Binge watching shows makes you lonelier. It sounds like an outrageous statement but, a report by Telstra found 1 in 2 Gen Z and millennials reported feeling regularly lonely. This figure is significantly higher than that of previous generations. Another survey by Cigna found 73% of Gen Z workers to feel this way as well. Though these surveys do not address binge-watching and streaming services directly, I believe this new generation is experiencing loneliness due to technology shifting to cater to the individual. The shift of TV to streaming services is one of many technological advances that follows suit.
