In a time before the 3 series, the BMW 02 series was the flagship model for the growing automaker. As the third BMW model sold in the USA, the 02 series models would be designated based on engine displacement, from the entry-level 1500, all the way up to the legendary 2002 turbo. With over 250,000 models built, The 1.6 liter 1600 would become the everyman's BMW in a time before the E30. Now, over half a century old, 1600 has gone down in automotive history as a pioneer model for BMW, and a cult classic from BMW's early years.
