In a press conference today (7 Feb), Najib's lawyer Shafee Abdullah read out a letter dated January 29 stating that the Pardons Board had recommended that Najib serve out the rest of his sentence.

Shafee said that Najib had received the letter as he was an affected party. The letter, carrying the seal of the previous Yang di-Pertuan Agong, was signed by Federal Territories minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa.

Shafee added that Najib is considering filing another petition for a full pardon.

On February 2, the Pardons Board released a statement on its decision to halve Najib's prison sentence from 12 years to 6 years and reduce his fine from RM210 million to RM50 million.
