Researchers at Oak Ridge National Laboratory recycled materials from an old racecar splitter mold and 3D printed a new mold. The new splitter helped the Brumos Racing Car set a new world record for its class at the 2023 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, demonstrating the potential of 3D printing to enable a circular economy in which materials from a variety of clean energy applications are reused over and over.
