Our online series of Live & Ticking webinars keep you updated with the latest British Heart Foundation (BHF) funded science taking place across the UK.

In this edition, we discover how cholesterol plays a significant role in heart health, both as a necessity for normal bodily functions and as a potential heart disease risk factor when present in excessive amounts.

Event speakers:

Fearghal McKinney – Head of BHF Northern Ireland hosts and guides us through this webinar by introducing some of the BHF-funded research into cholesterol and posing viewers’ questions to our panel of experts.

Louise McGill – BHF supporter and heart patient talks about how, at the age of 45, she had a heart attack and stent fitted shortly after being told that she had high cholesterol.

Yianna Theodorou – BHF Senior Research Engagement Officer helps to navigate through Louise’s story.

Professor Manuel Mayr – BHF Professor of Cardiovascular Proteomics at Imperial College London discusses his team's aim to find markers in the blood stream that can help identify people at higher risk of heart and circulatory disease, to enable doctors to target the right treatment to the right patient.

Sindy Jodar – BHF Senior Cardiac Nurse helps to answer viewers’ clinical questions relating to heart and circulatory disease and cholesterol.

Tracy Parker – BHF Heart Health Dietitian gives advice and tips on how to lower your cholesterol through diet and lifestyle.
