We tried to get Ian to wear his hanbok hat for the perfect picture, but he wasn't having it - until mum started singing and everyone joined in, creating a fun and lively atmosphere that distracted him from the hat. • What is Doljanchi?
(dol= 1st b-day, janchi=celebration) is a traditional Korean ceremony that celebrates a baby's first birthday. The event is believed to bring good luck and fortune to the child's future.

• What is Doljabi?
During the Doljanchi, a special ritual called Doljabi is performed where several items are placed in front of the baby, and the child is encouraged to pick one. Each item symbolizes a different profession or trait, and it's believed that the item the child chooses will predict their future (just for fun).
