How wonderful is this. One-day-full! This is Anoushka Sharma speaking the Raag Gara (uncertain) thirty years after a Thultex add that is steeped in Sinhala Jana Kavi. The tunes are almost identical.

The raag itself uses six notes in the ascend and all 7 in the descend. This is the raag played on the P or 5th or according to western music, the dominant. In Eastern Music the shift is much more important than a simple key shift because the instruments have limited range to avoid tonal confusion and allows for the audience to understand the feel of the music without forcing them into too much cacophony or noise.

The janakavi version simplifies it to its rawest level. It trumps the theoretically built "logic" if you may of raag complexity.
