BMW did not spare any expense when making this new BEV. BMW went the extra mile when they developed it, using a new agile team method and allowed the team to think out of the box and do whatever it takes.

The iX concept was first shown in 2018 and was signed off by BMW’s design chief, Domagoj Dukec. It was designed inside-out to be technologically complex, yet very user friendly.

BMW is juggling numerous powertrain option for their cars, maintaining and developing new technology and yet they made a pre-tax profit of 23.5 billion Euros in 2022 (up 46% compared to 2021). So they are doing something right.

Actually BMW was one of the early movers with the i3 and i8 back in 2013 and 2014, but then backed away from BEVs for almost 8 years. Now BMW is back with a vengeance and has some of the most advanced BEVs on offer, incl. the luxury i7, the i4, the iX3, the iX1 and this one, the super-advanced iX and the soon-to-come i5.

The result of BMW’s effort is a really good car which in many aspects sets a new benchmark for large fully electric SUVs or even BEVs in general. The price of this BMW iX 50 as it stands here, is CHF 157,750 incl. a number of options, the base price of the iX 50 starts at CHF 120,100.
