While Chevrolet’s Corvette has enjoyed seven decades of continuous production, model year 1965 is particularly historic in Corvette lore as the first for newly standard 4-wheel disc brakes and the availability of Chevrolet’s all-new Mark IV big-block engine. It also stands as the last for the potent RPO (Regular Production Option) L84 engine producing 375 HP with race-derived Rochester Ramjet fuel injection and the high-performance Duntov solid-lifter camshaft. Delivering the firepower, braking and handling needed to take on the world’s best in international endurance racing, the 1965 Corvette stands tall as a watershed of sports car performance development today.

Sporting a potent fuel-injected 327/375 HP V-8 engine, which was ordered on just 771 Corvettes for the last 1965 model year of availability at a cost of $538, this fascinating example is rarer still as one of just 41 N03 36-gallon Big Tank Corvettes built in 1965. It is also the only known Tuxedo Black 1965 Big Tank Fuelie. Delivered new for export and shipped to Lima, Peru, it was purchased from the Southern Peru Copper Company in 1997 and imported into the United States.

Formerly part of the noted Steinman and John Justo Collections, this rare, high-specification 1965 Corvette benefits from a professional body-off restoration. Finished in Tuxedo Black with a black leather interior, its additional highlights include a Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission, power 4-wheel disc brakes, power windows, tinted glass, a telescopic steering column mounting a teakwood wheel, the F40 Special Suspension and the original Off Road exhaust and original Kelsey-Hayes knock-off wheels.
