Step by Step Installation!

Today we'll be installing a "Poor Man's Power Steering" kit on a Craftsman YT4000 Riding Lawnmower.

What is a Poor Man's Power Steering? Essentially it's just a thrust needle roller bearing installed in between the axle, and front wheel spindle.

By installing a bearing here (instead of just a washer) it significantly reduces the amount of force needed to steer left and right, as the bearing reduces the amount of friction between these 2 surfaces.

In addition to installing the Poor Man's Power Steering kit, replacing the front wheel bushings with actual bearings will also decrease friction, and increase the life of your spindle axle shafts.
