I’ve been meaning to ask…a 4-week series for curiosity, courage, & connection begins this Sunday! Our leading question, “I’ve been meaning to ask…” conveys intentionality, warmth, curiosity, and consideration. In essence, this question also implies the following statements: “I’ve been thinking about you and I’ve been wanting to check in… You’ve been on my mind… I haven’t known how to have this conversation, but I’m getting started with a question.” In this time of continuing disconnection and difference in our society, we seek to cultivate courageous conversations— and to keep having them, even if we need to pause. In our first week, we took up the question “I’ve been meaning to ask…where are you from?” and we focused on being curious with an open mind, a soft heart, and a wild spirit. This week, we take it a step further and ask: “...where does it hurt?” So often, we want to fix suffering, avoid it, or smooth it over. The sacred stories remind us, sometimes we need to be curious about pain, listen more than speak, and stand in solidarity with those who are suffering. Join us as we plunge headlong into a question that gets to the heart of who we are, where we’re coming from, and where the Spirit calls us to go – together.
