Fifty years ago, in 1974, the World Health Organization (WHO) launched the Expanded Programme on Immunization, bringing countries together to provide children everywhere with vaccines. Since then, millions of lives have been saved. This World Immunization Week, WHO is calling on world leaders to advocate, support and fund vaccines and the immunization programmes that deliver these lifesaving products – reaffirming their commitment to public health, while celebrating one of humanity’s greatest achievements.
