These fire strikers are modeled after artifacts used during the Viking Age (793 – 1066 AD). We forged two strikers: one from a piece of drill rod that was recovered from a mountain trail and the other from an old file. The rocks used for throwing sparks were obsidian, Danish flint, and a quartz picked off the beach.
