AFL GATHER ROUND 2024
Gather round, gather round, it's gather round! In case you are unfamiliar, Gather Round is when all 18 AFL teams come together and play all their matches in the same city, and it's being held here, on Kaurna Yerta, or Adelaide. In total, there will be 9 games played across four days, at Adelaide Oval, Mt Barker and Norwood. This is the second year Gather Round has been held, and it's looking like it's going to be bigger than the first, with more than 200,000 tickets sold, and 70 thousand people expected to be travelling interstate for the event! And if sitting and watching footy isn't your thing, there's plenty of stuff going on outside of the matches, where fans can get in on the action. Back to you Wren!

TAIWAN EARTHQUAKE
Rescue efforts are underway in Taiwan, after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake stuck the island yesterday. It's the strongest tremor to hit Taiwan in 25 years. So far nine people have died, and more than 900 are injured, but authorities are working quickly to rescue those who are still trapped.

RUBBISH RAFT
Not many people can say they've built their own vessel, and even fewer can say they've built one out of rubbish. But Sam here has done it! Last year, Sam and his team completed construction on this sailing scrap-pile, made from waste found in Tasmanian waters, like oyster bags, fish farm pipes, and rubber bands. His goal — to ambitiously sail it from Hobart to Sydney, with a few stops along the way. But he's hit a snag in the water. Marine authorities say they aren't convinced the raft is safe enough. But despite the rough waters, Sam's still hopeful that one day he can hit the ground, or, uh, ocean, running.

PURPLE LAKE
First to Germany, where this once-blue lake has turned a deep-purpley colour. It's all thanks to sulphur bacteria, which rises to the water's surface when it's disturbed. The bacteria will eventually sink back down, but for now, it's fascinating locals. Except for this guy, I don't think he's easily impressed.

OLYMPIC VENUSES
Next to Paris, where these colourful statues, have taken over the French National Assembly, to celebrate the upcoming Olympic Games! The venuses are rainbow colours to symbolise equal rights, and are holding sport equipment to show sports not just for boys. Watch out, boxing venus packs some punch.

MAN-MADE ECLIPSE
And finally, to a world-first mission, that could actually get rid of the world's colour! Okay, I'm being dramatic. The European Space Agency is planning to create a man-made eclipse like this to study the outer part of the sun, called the corona.
